-  Tobermory – Mull’s colourful main town with a pretty harbour, independent shops, cafes, and galleries, and the setting of the TV show Balamory
- Lochbuie – Situated at the head of Loch Buie on the south coast of the Isle of Mull the area is renowned for its scenic landscape, shimmering beaches, standing stones and abundant wildlife
- Fionnphort – Lovely little harbour with a sandy beach and the ferry link to Iona (great day trips)
- Isle of Ulva – A great day trip from the west coast of Mull, with lovely walks, a fascinating history, small restaurant and the Grand Island Hotel (Ulva House)
🏰 Historic & Cultural Attractions
- Duart Castle – The castle you see from the ferry as you reach Craignure – a dramatic waterfront castle and the ancestral home of Clan Maclean)
- Dùn Ara – Ruined ancient fort only a short drive from the campsite in the shadow of Glengorm Castle. Follow up your walk with a visit to the wonderful Glengorm Coffee Shop. Please keep dogs on a lead on this walk as it is a working farm.
- Mull Museum – Situated in Main Street, Tobermory an opportunity to discover the history of island life.
- An Tobar and Mull Theatre – For music, art and theatre

- Golf – Tobermory Golf Club has amazing views and welcome day visitors (clubs also for hire)
- Beaches – Where to start? We are an island and they are everywhere
- Playpark – Tobermory has a large playpark behind the school, with tennis courts and a large pitch nearby
- Rainy Days – Children’s indoor play area in The Aros Hall, Tobermory – opening hours vary
🥾 Nature & The Outdoors

Hill Walks & Mountains – Hike up Ben More (Mull’s only Munro) or other peaks like Beinn Talaidh for terrific views
Forest & Coastal Walks – Trails like Aros Park, Ardmore Bay, and coastal paths around Tobermory offer scenic walking and wildlife viewing. Our favourite website for walking is Walk Highlands which has an app that allows you to download route descriptions. There is a great selection of guides and maps in Tackle and Books in Tobermory.
Calgary Bay – A stunning west-facing white-sand beach with a stunning art trail & gallery , ice-cream shop and café nearby
Geological Wonders:
MacCulloch’s Fossil Tree – A 50-million-year-old fossil embedded in lava flows. Aim to arrive at low tide.
Carsaig Arches – Striking sea-carved rock arches along the rugged southern coast. Not an easy walk by any means, but rewarded with dramatic views.
🍷 Tasting & Local Food
Whisky Wednesdays – Join us in the campsite shelter every Wednesday evening for a relaxed Whisky Tasting Experience with Tobermory Whisky Den. Book at reception for £25 each. Strictly over 18s only, please ensure you bring proof of age.
Cheese Farm – Just up from the campsite is Sgriob-ruadh Dairy Farm and Distillery. Take a tour, visit the farm shop or relax with a drink and something to eat.
Tobermory Distillery – Historic whisky and gin tours and tastings right in town.
Local Food Scene – Mull’s foodie culture includes artisan cheeses, seafood, locally roasted coffee, and beef, lamb or venison from our island in restaurants or to buy for home.
🚤 Day Trips & Wildlife
- From Fionnphort you can pick up a passenger ferry to Iona for its abbey and lovely beaches.
- Ulva Ferry on the west coast is the stopping off point for boat trips out to Staffa with its famed Fingal’s Cave and Lunga for puffins. The ferry to Isle of Ulva operates from here throughout the summer, and is a lovely community owned island with great walks, history and restaurant.
- Wildlife Watching – Look out for eagles, otters, seals and sea birds on walks or boat tours around the coasts. There are many operators on land and sea, best to book in advance as they are popular.
- Tobermory Boat Trips are short 1-hour trips around the bay spotting wildlife, waterfalls and spectacular views.
